In May, real estate sales in Turkey rose by 1.8 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the Turkish Statistics Agency.
According to figures released by the authority on Friday, the total number of properties sold throughout Turkey in May, reached 116 thousand and 558 properties.
Istanbul accounted for the largest share of properties sold last month, representing 17.4 percent of the total (20,287 properties).
Ankara came second with 12,631 properties sold, followed by Izmir with 7,121 properties.
Real estate sales to foreigners in the whole of Turkey, as witnessed during the last May, an increase of 10.1 percent compared with the same month last year.
The number of properties sold to foreigners during the past month was 1775 properties, most of them sold to Saudi citizens, Iraqis, Russians, Kuwaitis and Afghans.
